My battery died on me last month. The system did rebuild the RAID array but
stayed in degraded mode meaning it did not use the cache write. I was lucky
and was able to follow instructions and it came back as normal. I was
warned ahead of time what would happen if I did not follow the
instructions. Instructions also vary based on the model you have.
