Um, just to make sure that nothing gets lost in the translation but these fellows were using sarcasm.
1 - Do not create a NetServer share on the root directory '/'.
2 - See rule #1.
3 - If you just have to violate rule #1 (you don't) but if you're too stubborn to realize otherwise make sure your share is set up for read only.
4 - Rule #3 should not be construed that you should do anything like changing the authority on '/'. It only means that if you insist on creating a share that the share be read only.
5 - See Rule #1. Bust that up into granular shares only on the directories below. For example share '/home' instead of '/'.
