you cannot use save files to go back more than 2 levels
(e.g. V7R2 to V7R2).

To transfer source members, you must use direkt FTP transfer of the member:

get /qsys.lib/yourlib.lib/qrpglesrc.file/mypgm.mbr /qsys.lib/target.lib/qrpglesrc.file/mypgm.mbr

Member for member only - and then you need to reset member type and text.

How and where did I get the impression that data files (such as source files) could be transferred between different OS levels? Am I just getting old, or losing it, confusing systems, or ?

For example, QRGLESRC from a v7r3 partition to a v5r4 partition through a save file. I know other objects can not be so done.
