Hi,
I suppose this topic may be better served on another list. If so, please advise.
I know of several young people in different industries who want to get into software development.
They are college educated, fairly accomplished (management) and proven in the retail industry, but seek a career change out of the retail environment.
They foresee a long recovery with diminishing returns in retail and lack of potential for advancement.
They have already embarked on self-education in Python but want real world advice on what else might be required to at least gain an entry level position in software development.
These are proven people with the ability to teach themselves subjects outside their lanes and want advice on how to proceed.
I am too long in the tooth and removed from the human resources pursuit to be confident in any advice I could offer.
So, I turn to this forum.
What to advise? What else besides Python can be absorbed? How to market themselves? How to get that first job? Is now a good time?
