Believe me, if this is your initial foray into Git, you'll eventually grow to love it.  I haven't yet used it for RPG development but the real beauty for me is that the central repo with the code becomes accessible for all locations and most platforms.  So, you build and test locally, push and commit, pull from another location and build.  It's really handy.  And if you want to share, you can.

Branching, committing, reverting...not sure how I worked without it before.  I am still in the process of configuring my i, but once I am done, code, documentation, the whole tamale will be in a Git repo.....

Hello all,

Question for the group - we are just starting to look into the world of using Git to handle our source control and management in our shop. We've got a repository set up and I've been able to do an initial load of source code there, and then successfully push up a change using the Git tools in RDI. From a practical perspective, how do those of you that use it have it set up? Do you maintain a "golden" source library on your I partition and then only use Git to keep track of your changes in the cloud? Do you use Git as your main repository for source code and not maintain a copy on your I partition? I can see right away the advantages of Git for keeping track of source changes in the cloud (and being able to pinpoint a specific previous change and revert back to that version of the code if need be), but I'm guessing some of you have moved beyond that possibly into making Git the main repo for your code, period.

Would appreciate any and all thoughts on the subject. Thanks!
