Subject: RE: AP PrinterFace II
One of the reasons we dumped faxing was that we got tired of having to
reprogram forms because faxing handled them differently. There was always
something that just lined up a little differently. We just ended up telling
all business partners that we were considering faxing a dead technology and
they had the choice of email, EDI, or print.
The people you are dealing with took a different tack. They designed the
forms for faxing. If someone wanted a PDF version they had to fax the
report to an automated fax to email conversion process then forward that on.
I suggest they redesign the forms for PDF and be done with it. Keeping this
convoluted process in place just makes people despise your IBM i.

Hello
Wondering if anyone is familiar with the AP PrinterFace box. A "widget" box
that sits between a "dumb terminal" and printer.
It allows overlay printing. Have a customer that ran software on the I5,
they have since moved to a windows platform.
When they need to re-print invoices from the I5, they were told that the
only way to recreate them was via Faxstar.
They fax themselves the invoice and then forward them to the customer.
We have discovered that for some invoices, they have 3 different formats, if
we print to the printer that has the AP Printerface box attached it will
print the correct overlay.
It appears that the overlay is driven by verbiage that is on the invoice(?).
Since 2 out of the 3 overlays print, we presume that the 3rd is not
"programmed' on the box.
They want to get rid of the fax line being used by the Faxstar. So we need
to figure out how to get the 3rd overlay to print.
Anyone have experience with this?
Thank you!
Regards
