I search for the manual, and was unable to find it. Thanks for the link.
I posted an example, an expression, that worked for me.
My thanks to you and Vern for your response.

I don't think QM supports edit words. Been decades though...

You may be able to define the field as an expression
Name Expression
PartNoC values left(digits(dec(023456789, 9, 0)), 7) concat '-' concat right(digits(dec(023456789, 9, 0)), 2); Replace dec(023456789, 9, 0) with PartNo.
Digits is preferred over char because of the possibility of leading zeros. Unless, of course, you want zero suppression. Then you run into the whole left(..., 7) issue.

Hi Michael
I've done a fair amount playing/working with QM. I see where you get only the codes.
Part of the trouble is, your part numbers are not really numbers used in calculations. Edit words could get you what you want, of course.
I think what you do is use one of the SQL functions - digits() with various subtringing can do it - i looked at varchar_format but did not see how it could do it.

Using F4 on the edit column only allows me to use/select an edit code.
Is there another screen, function key, or work around for editing the part number?
I would like to use an edit word that produced a column of part numbers formatted: "123456-78".
Edit Column Formatting
Type information, press Enter.
For Usage and Edit, press F4 for list.
For Heading, press F4 for prompt.
