When time zones on the system were first introduced (a bit over 20 years
ago) the intent had been to allow the system to run jobs in different time
zones in a subsequent release. You can even find some hints of that in
various work management interfaces. Unfortunately that second stage didn't
get approved/funded. You can certainly run in different time zones with
APIs and locale support as mentioned in previous posts, but for a given
system/lpar the jobs (again, from a system point of view) are going to run
in the system time zone.

Subject: Multiple Time Zones

Our system (7.4) sits in the Eastern time zone of the U.S., but we have
offices in additional time zones. This morning I have been doing research
to determine if there was a way to define different times for each office.
Mainly I have been using technical references from my library (Jim Buck,
et al), the Midrange archives, and IBM's Knowledge Center.

Even before I began, I thought of potential problems rookie that I am. Mr.
Vining documented several more, which he admitted was not an exhaustive
list. But I thought that, maybe, IBM had figured out a way to address
these issues. The archive entries date back over a decade (5.4).

I did find an API or two that might be useful for time displays on panels
or reports. I guess I will have to rely on one of those if one turns out
to be fruitful, but I'm a lazy individual and do not look forward to
plugging it into every program we have.

Thanks for listening.
