I think this is what you are looking for.

From the 5250 screen choose:

Keep-Alive (Y or N)
<help>
Keep-Alive <>

Select Yes if you want the client to close the connection when the destination address is no longer available.

For more information about how to adjust the level of frequency of Keep-Alive traffic, refer to your operating system's TCP/IP documentation.

Hello all,

We are currently having a network issue with our main circuit where ACS sessions are getting dropped. I've set up a session to do the WRKACTJOB command with the automatic update every 10 seconds, and that appears to force a session to stay active and not get signed off. So in theory, it SEEMS like if a user is doing something interactively (our month-end process is today so that will for sure be happening a lot), the session doesn't disconnect. We've tried the "keep alive" configuration parameter in the ACS settings and that doesn't appear to work. So what we seem to have is a case where if a session sits for any length of time with our circuit issue, it gets signed off. Timeframe could be even 10-15 minutes. Would there be any other settings that any of you know of that might keep a session from getting signed off in this kind of situation? Our "keep alive" session in our TCP parameters is set to 120 minutes. All suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks!
