Hi Gad
It is always OK to submit an RFE to IBM, who knows, it might be taken up
and implemented.
The comment that IBM probably would not in the case of syntax used by a
different RDBMS product is valid, I have heard from the Db2 architect,
in CAAC meetings, that they don't go chasing after features.
If you submit an RFE, you very likely will get a direct response from
the architect, and that is much better than what we might think in this
group - and I speak for myself, since I was inclined to agree that there
isn't a reason to ask for the change, at first.
The RFE process is great - you give the entire community a chance to
weigh in, to comment, to vote, and the development team at IBM responds
directly.
Regards
Vern

Thanks Charles, Tim, Birgitta for your input
I still think that that DB2/400 update syntax,
namly
update file_A
Set field1 = (select xxxx from file_B where yyy)
where exists (select 1 from file_B where yyy)
or the Merge statement
are much more cumbersome then TSQL's Update - from .
