Here is my counter argument for MGTOOLS not being part of the OS. Almost anytime IBM is called to diagnose a problem, they will have the customer use the MGTOOLS to collect and upload data to IBM, correct?

In my view EVERY system should have a current copy of MGTOOLS on it. And it is too easy to update so no excuses.

Therefore as a great business partner you assist those customers who do not have local admin by installing and periodically updating the tooling. That way they are ready when IBM requests the data, and it gives you an every six months touch point with the customer to maintain your relationship.

Where's the down side?

Ah, but MGTOOLS are not part of the OS and I cannot hope to have them installed in every client.
But yes, that helps for some of the customers that still have actual admins running the boxes.

running this on my 7.4 server:

SELECT * FROM TABLE(QSYS2.OBJECT_STATISTICS('QSYS', '*CMD')) order
by OBJCREATED desc

shows some "recent" SST commands, the PTF is listed in one of the
fields
