the QMGTOOLS library has a way to collect PAL and VLOGS from non-SST
interface.
QMGTOOLS/SYSSNAP OUTPUT(*IFS)
COLLECTDFT(N)
LICLOGS(Y)
PALS(Y)
COLPCSNAP(N)
DAYSPRV(4)
-or-
QMGTOOLS/MINISNAP PAL(Y)
VLOG(Y)
BEGINDATE(*CURRENT)
ENDDATE(*CURRENT)
both of the options include a rack-config
or you can use:
QMGTOOLS/GENRACKCFG OUTPUT(*PRINT)
if you *only want a rack config.

Rob, there is also some communications trace stuff there, including a
port scanner that looks very much like one i've had for years :-).

Yeah. It seems I'm still stuck guiding the customer to obtain the data Ivs
need.
Shame that for all its greatness some things are really hidden in IBM i
AIX.OS-level
I have built some tools that query the HMC for all it's managed systems,
their configuration, obtains the LPAR's IP and connects to obtain
data and yet, IBM i is the only one that escapes the grasp of my tool.(IBM
i and the ASMI, I would love to get the vpd section of the ASMI, which ismidrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
part of what the rack config on IBM i gets me).
Thanks anyways!

Good idea. Due to Covid-19, technical issues and social unrest my ptf

running this on my 7.4 server:
SELECT * FROM TABLE(QSYS2.OBJECT_STATISTICS('QSYS', '*CMD'))
order by OBJCREATED desc
shows some "recent" SST commands, the PTF is listed in one of the fields

I too have heard of new commands and what not to get at stuff youpreviously had to go into SST to get to.
An example which is not so new is STRCMNTRC versus starting acommunications trace from within SST.
But I could not find those directly. I check the mythological TR2
listfor 7.4 and didn't see anything.
