We used to use Iron Mountain for tape storage. They would send a courier to swap tapes every day. BRMS has some "move" reports which will tell you what tapes to make ready for Iron Mountain, what tapes to order for delivery the next day, etc. Worked great. We only used the 'must have now' option once from Iron Mountain. They failed miserably. Delivered it to some building in our complex we do not do business with and it took a few days to sort out that mess.
Iron Mountain sure looks good for the auditors though.

We have since switched to a virtual tape library and have no physical tape devices at all.
Repeat: This is a virtual tape library and NOT virtual tape image catalog.
We have done bare metal restores and it works great.

Scanning the tapes for rotation back/forth to Iron Mountain does take some labor. We had a gal who might have been dragging the process out since she was nearing retirement and really wasn't interested in taking on new work.
