I am planning on doing a PTF and save system on the holiday weekend. So I
just download the latest PTFs to get ready.
I was planning on doing the install of the LPP then the PTF's. It sounds
like I could do the install a few days earlier and not have to worry about
that step that weekend. I almost forgot that that I need the installation
software. I better get that downloaded.

You will want to get your PTFs current and THAT might require an IPL.
Installing the LPP itself will not.

You should also be able to do this from GO LICPGM option 11, then page

down until you see option 47 and type a "1" next to it and press Enter,
