If we can replace the battery - any suggestions on vendors?

We have APC here (and yes, I know there are those who don't swear BY APC, but swear AT them), and we just go to a local purveyor of industrial batteries, which I found many years ago with a Google search. So far as I'm aware, they handle everything from forklift batteries down to watch batteries.

I can't imagine that IBM would not provide user-replaceable batteries in a UPS. Batteries don't last forever, and they don't outlast the equipment they're installed in (and if they're not replaced before they rupture their jars, they'll likely destroy the equipment they're installed in; I speak from experience).

I recommend that you look for two things: a battery vendor in your area, and the manual for your UPS.
