Abstract

OSP EXCESSIVE AUDIT RECORDS WRITTEN BY SMTP

Error Description

Customer has thousands of entries in QAUDJRN for SMTP jobs.
Problem Conclusion

Security audit records will be suppressed when sent from SMTP
jobs for pathnames that start with the following:
/QTCPTMM/.TMP
/QTCPTMM/TMP/
/QTCPTMM/QUEUE/
/QTCPTMM/DATA

These audit records are for internal operations necessary for
the SMTP server to do it's job but are just noise from a
customer point of view.

On one of my customer machines one of the SMTP jobs has started adding over
3100 entries per hour to the QAUDJRN.

I cannot see why. They look to be JOENTT = 'AD' and JOCODE = 'T' so it
appears to be and auditing attribute change but I'll be danged if I can
figure out where it's coming from.

Blowing up storage like mad.

Any others see this in the past?

V7R3: Very current on PTFs.
