Jack, The only fiddling with the front panel you need to do is:
Funct 02 to set it to anything M (A M, B M, whatever, as long as it's
manual)
Funct 30 and then 3000 to get the HMC1 port's IP
Finally, you plug into that port, log into the ASMI (https://IPyouReadOn3000),
user admin default password admin and reset to factory default everything.
That will get you the single LPAR non-managed mode. No LAN console no
nothing (Do remember that LAN Console is a construct of the LIC, not a
hardware configuration).

That's what I was thinking. Just for a toy.

It has the lan console but the lan console laptop lost the IP address :(

So I guess I can fiddle with the LCD control panel on the front and somehow
reinitialize it be a new machine more or less and just pop Linux on.
