It has, as every other OS has (more or less hidden under the covers). But since this is an application-specific issue, I don't want to fiddle with global settings and possibly break something else.

The "user reachable" defines aren't for ordinary keys but for command keys (aka: speedy menu item selection).

So I Googled around for something similar for Mac and found a few. I imagine you can set a hotkey that pastes the desired character(s) into ACS.
