Gad,

That will only work if the system is a single partition managed by a LAN
console.

If there is an HMC and single partition it must be been purposely set to
allow firmware updates to the system via the IBM i interface.

If there are more than one partition on the system with an HMC managed
system, I'm not sure that would work at all.

Not sure what you have, so including the matrix of possibilities.

If there is an HMC in the mix regardless of the number of partitions, best
practice would be to use the HMC to do all firmware updates.

Thanks Rob

I was under the (wrong) impression that Cumulative PTF packages do include
Firmware PTFs

Will ask my IBM CE.

I do not know of any firmware PTF which "needs" to be installed with it.
That being said I normally use our scheduled downtimes to put on
firmware upgrades also.

As discovered in a recent thread IBM no longer put's any firmware upgrades
into cume or group media. You have to specifically ask for them.

Hello all

I aim to use the lull in work and install C9304740 Cumulative PTF
(7.4)

Does any body know if a Firmware PTF needs to be installed with it?

See ya' all when this COVID blows over.
