Sorry, I just noticed the typo's.

The command should read:

CHGVAR VAR(&CMD) VALUE('sftp -vvv -b +
/BankName/scriptname.sftp +
user@xxxxxxxx: > +
/SFTP_Logs/verbose.txt 2>&1')

One can hardly conjecture what happens when those unescaped angle brackets appear in a command line passed literally by your CL to your PASE shell.
