It doesn’t logically.

But if it can be it will be. So not interested in my process choking simply because some dillweed set it to something illogical.

OK, I didn't know.

i've run into situations where /home/user/.ssh sometimes are set to 600...
so as an extra layer of precaution, i am setting those to 755 during
maintenance and then back to 600 when i am done.

600? For a directory? From my PoV, that doesn't make any sense.
