I'm setting up a new printer for the first time on the IBM i. The
person that used to do this retired. The printer is a HP Laserjet
Pro M402n. This is the first time we connected this model to the
IBM i. I currently specified *IBM4317 for the Manufacturer type and
model on the device description. This is what was specified for one
of our other printers. It sort of works, but we have spool files
that pull pages from two different trays. There are only two trays
on the printer. Now it is pulling them from the opposite tray it
should. I didn't know if changing the type and model would help
with that or not. Any ideas?

Sounds like a printer setup issue to me. What you're working with
are the factory default settings but it is a good bet that the other
printer you're comparing to has had its settings customized to some
degree. Sometimes it is a simple as swapping the trays in the printer.
Otherwise, there are menu settings that configure the printer to tell it
which tray is which tray number and/or is used for which type of stock.

Sincerely,

Dave Clark
