Yes, as long as it's wrappered in an object, in fact top level arrays have a weird security issue so ought to be avoided https://stackoverflow.com/questions/3503102/what-are-top-level-json-arrays-and-why-are-they-a-security-risk:

Subject: JSON Questions

A trading partner sent a sample of JSON data that they require. Is it
possible/correct to specify a Key name for JSON_ARRAY?

[{ // Note that it is an array of Deceased
objects.
"ExternalId": 123, // Your ExternalId - Required
"Prefix": "",
"FirstName": "",
"MiddleName": "",
"LastName": "",
"Suffix": "",
"BirthDate": "",
"Location": { // Note that this is an object, not an
array.
"ExternalId": 2, // Your LocationExternalId - Required if a
location is provided (but that is not required necessarily).
"Level1": "",
"Level2": "",
"Level3": "",
"Level4": "",
"Level5": "",
}
}]
