Or has 5250 usage become insignificant?

It seems that we have this discussion every year in December as people look
toward the future. Sometimes it's more of a discussion about browser user
interfaces, or about application architecture.

From my perspective, 5250 has a long future for system administration. But
it should be deprecated for application development. Also, any derivative
of the write-read paradigm (including OA handlers) should be deprecated in
regard to user interfaces - in my opinion.

Also, as Jon and Vern have suggested - put business rules as close to the
database as possible. For me, that means putting that logic in what I like
to call "database handlers", which are procedures named on_read(),
on_write(), on_update(), on_delete(), which are invoked by a generic
database trigger utility.
