The way I read the SQL reference, SESSION_USER isn't listed in DEFAULT values. It can be used this way.
create table reffilet(
sydate date not null with default current_date,
sytime time not null with default current_time,
syuser varchar(18) not null with default user,
sytimestmp timestamp not null
with default current_timestamp,
syusersess varchar(128) not null generated always as
(session_user));

Subject: Re: SQL Question
Robert,
Here is the SQL:
create table reffilet(
sydate date not null with default current_date,
sytime time not null with default current_time,
syuser varchar(18) not null with default user,
sytimestmp timestamp not null
with default current_timestamp,
syusersess varchar(128) not null with default session_user);
If you comment out the last statement and make the definition of column sytimestmp the last statement, it runs.
Bruce,
The manual I am referring to is:
IBM i
Version 7.3
Database
Db2 for i SQL Reference
Alan,
I tried creating a new table with System i Navigator. For the field that
is causing the issue, the SESSION_USER is not listed as one of the default
values. I am assuming now that the manual is incorrect, or there is a PTF
needed to allow usage of special register SESSION_USER, or maybe
SESSION_USER is only allowed to be used in a SELECT statement.
Thank you,
Doug
