Good point about using "safe" special characters. We had to check the rules between IBM i, Windows, etc to ensure that no one in any of the environments had any issues. It's been awhile but there were a few special characters we had to disallow.
Placement is also an issue. I think IBM i likes it if you have a letter in the first position. Although I just tried a password beginning with a number and didn't have any issue.

I seem to remember something about the password Q1234 being the same as 1234 from S/36 migration but I'm not seeing that work anymore. Maybe because were at a different password level or some such thing.
