To clarify - I thought we don't need the emulator if all we want is the ODBC stuff - so the ACS Windows Application Package will do , right?

Just checking - IIRC, we installed the AP for someone needing access to our system but no need for a 5250 session.

You need to download the entire ACS package, not just the client (both
available from the ACS web site) and install the ODBC driver on the windows
box.
Then the ODBC connection needs to be configured to connect to the IBM i
database. Documentation on all of that is available on the IBM ACS web
site, but also quite a bit on the soon to be gone developer works wiki
pages.

Thanks for the reply Jim

Yes - it’s the iSeries
You say -
For more modern connections I would imagine you would us the newest ODBC
or OLE connector provided in ACS.

Okay - but I have NO idea what to do
Is there some documentation available somewhere?

Subject: [EXTERNAL] Re: Power BI connecting to an AS/400

Alan: Assuming you’re using AS/400 on purpose (as opposed to IBM i) was
version? I think way back the the only option was ODBC. I doubt
today’s ODBC drivers would work, so you’ll have to dig up an old copy of
client access.

For more modern connections I would imagine you would us the newest ODBC
or OLE connector provided in ACS.

Is that not working for you?

Hi everyone
Is anyone using Power BI connected to an AS/400?
If so, are you able/willing to share how you managed to connect to the
AS/400?

We are on V7r3
