Liquor Store Software Search

Our owner is contemplating the purchase of a liquor store. For reference,
we are currently a chain of ~ 25 retail convenience stores selling beer,
cigarettes, cokes, candy bars, and such.



My only experience with liquor stores is my weekly visit to restock my
Gentleman Jack. I did have a colleague (now deceased) who was the network
guy for a liquor distributor. The brief discussions with that colleague
mainly centered on how regulated the industry was. Cigarettes and beer are,
also, regulated but not to that extent.



I am doing a preliminary search for software targeted at liquor retail. We
have a point-of-sales system that our executive V-P thinks could be used to
record sales and pass that on to our System i. Maybe, maybe not. Anyway, I
am trying to find software that would, preferably, run on the System i (both
owner and I are System i bigots, though he never touches the system).
Failing that we would accept something that runs on Windows, Mac iOS, or
Linux.



I have searched but my keywords may be too convoluted for Google. The back
office functions (Payables, Recv., G/L, etc.) should, I think, be pretty
much the same as any retail operations, but I may be wrong (it's happened).
Anyone have any knowledge or suggestions regarding retail liquor store
software?
