Hi, Holger, and Patrik:

At least some of what you may be looking for seems to be here:
    http://bitsavers.trailing-edge.com/pdf/ibm/5250_5251/

See especially the "5250 Functions Reference" manual on that page.

If that does not have what you are looking for, you might also search for this one:

IBM, "5494 Remote Control Unit, Functions Reference", SC30- 3533-04

It was on many of the older CDs containing the "AS/400 Softcopy Library" for various releases.  If  you do not manage to find a copy of that, let me know, and I can dig it out and send it to you.
Also, scribd has a copy of that one here:
    https://www.scribd.com/document/390963548/SC30-3533-04-5494-Functions-Reference

(But you have to sign-up for scribd to download it.  It seems to be the old BookManager format, served up via the web interface.)

There is also a lot of detail to be found here:
    https://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-tn3270e-tn5250e-04

All the best,

Mark S. Waterbury

offtopic - there *is* some off site storage in 5250 protocol where the emulator stores regions of windows when they
are overlapped by other windows, but this is not related to F8.

May I ask you for a source where I can learn more about that?
