Switching 5250 is not on the plate. Again, I'd rather have something I
can control at the server to stop this.
Technically auto-reconnect has it's uses. For example when you do a
switch to your HA solution. Training users how to manually do a reconnect
can be done but I'd rather not. Again, I'd rather figure out how to limit
this at the server.

Hmm. The emulator we use internally (and which we bundle with our CRM
product), which I helped write, does not even *have* auto-reconnect
(I've never even heard of such a thing until now), and if it has a
"device in use" collision when connecting, it (1) increments the counter
in the device name, if you specify a device name, and (2) stops trying
and puts up a dialog after a set number of failed attempts to connect.
