Here’s a question I’ve been pondering lately. Is the a difference between

1. STRASPVAL *MOVDTA and then removing drives from ASP(in SST) when drives show (Nearly) empty
2. Remove Drives from ASP without first *MOVDTA

Both can be done on live system. It seams that option 2 would a couple less steps to accomplish same end goal.

Thoughts?

I migrated all data on internal disks from current disks to new larger disks, using STRASPBAL *MOVDTA.
This was done with no down time.

Then, last step was to move the load source.
This required down time, about 1 hour, using DST, copy load source utility.

I sent all my steps to IBM, they approved it, but was recommending a total save with total restore instead.
