A date is a running number which starts on 4713 BC (Begin of the Julian
Calendar) and is called Scaliger No.
The scaliger no is used for all dates (also the dates included within the
timestamp).
On the i a date is not an amount of seconds like in other databases or
systems

Subject: Dates and Timestamps.
My boss is telling me that he thought that date data type in the database
was somehow deprecated and that you should just use Timestamp. I have never
heard of such a thing. Ring any bells with anyone? He is from the SQL Server
world so maybe that is where he is picking it up.
