Hi Alan,

If the idea is that they want to prompt that field with a function key, why not just use a specific function key for that field instead of F4?  Leave the field output only.  It won't matter where the cursor is.

THAT'S the reason why I do not want the user the ability to change the value in that field, but have the capability to tab over to it

But if there is no code in the program to read the blank field and put it in the file what should it matter. Unless of course if the file data name matches the screen field name. Of course a Hidden Field in the DDS takes up no real estate on the screen and could be used to put back the value if altered. Just compare the two fields and if different put the Hidden field value back in the Display field.
