ARDGATE and JVAGATE question

I am not a Java developer and could possible read the code but that would
take a while and I am not sure I would get it right, so its easier to ask
questions.

I need to connect to an old Progress database on HPUX. We use Openlink to
pull data off Progress into Excel.

Openlink has a JDBC driver that would need ARDGATE and I think JVAGATE or a
JDBCGATE application.

Question:
- Should I be able to use JVAGATE to pull data from Progress?
- I intend using SQL to pull data off Progress.
