I appreciate the responses. I could use the VAN for the AS2 connection but I expect (prior research) the traffic to count toward and surpass our allocated size limit of our VAN mailbox. More $$$ for more space as they charge by kilocharacter and this is a large customer such that we considered only automating some of the documents with the VAN. I got a quote from our VAN when we considered moving traffic there for this customer before AS2 became a current requirement. I reviewed various software mentioned and I am deciding to try an open source software OpenAS2 on a Windows server. Mendelson and OpenAS2 appeared to fit the requirements but I heard that OpenAS2 can be more flexible even though there is no GUI. Hopefully, it would be a set and forget scenario without much use of a GUI. We have time to transition and test so I will give it a shot.

Thanks again,
Craig

We use Opentext(Liaison). They are our only AS2 connection. All of our trading partners connect to them. We have a number of trading partners that want to connect direct, but it isn't viable here. We use Cleo(Extol) as our EDI translator.

We have a customer requiring an AS2 connection with Ariba if we want to continue with EDI automation from the IBM i. Otherwise, manual through a portal. I have never set up an AS2 connection and we have GoAnywhere MFT, but the AS2 client/server feature has a cost. We use GXS(OpenText) TrustedLink for i for the EDI translation and for other EDI trading partners. They (GXS) have an AS2 option with BizManager but that is another product with a price. I researched past posts and some of those mention using a Windows PC instead of the IBM i for the AS2 connection. I'm willing to try a Windows PC. Actually, that customer also currently requires us to use some of their own old software running on a Windows PC which pulls from/to IBM i IFS files. I think that is one of the reasons they want to switch.
What is the most popular/favorite, stable, etc software that midrange people use for the AS2 connection? Any software to stay away from? Any part of this that can be done on our own?

Thanks,
Craig Strong
