It has been a long time since I did anything with EDI, but when I was
involved with that, we started using a network provider to handle the
communications with the individual trading partners, and then we only had
to manage communications with the network provider. That simplified things
on our end significantly. It does come at a cost, but it was definitely
worth it to only have to deal with one or two networks. Most of our trading
partners already dealt with a network anyway.

We use both TLI and Biz Connect products. Biz Connect is a solid product
with excellent support and makes setting up AS2 trading partners relatively
simple. Seamless integration with TLI, too.

Subject: [External] AS2 Connection Options

We have a customer requiring an AS2 connection with Ariba if we want to
continue with EDI automation from the IBM i. Otherwise, manual through a
portal. I have never set up an AS2 connection and we have GoAnywhere MFT,
but the AS2 client/server feature has a cost. We use GXS(OpenText)
TrustedLink for i for the EDI translation and for other EDI trading
partners. They (GXS) have an AS2 option with BizManager but that is
another product with a price. I researched past posts and some of those
mention using a Windows PC instead of the IBM i for the AS2 connection.
I'm willing to try a Windows PC. Actually, that customer also currently
requires us to use some of their own old software running on a Windows PC
which pulls from/to IBM i IFS files. I think that is one of the reasons
they want to switch.
What is the most popular/favorite, stable, etc software that midrange
people use for the AS2 connection? Any software to stay away from? Any
part of this that can be done on our own?

Thanks,
Craig Strong
