Correct, The HMC cannot interrogate the adapter card to see what it reports
as being attached. Navigator is using the APIs (some IBM only) to pull
the hardware inventory from LIC. HMC cannot do that at present.

The HMC doesn't have that visibility. Neither the old nor the new AFAIK.
It goes as far as knowing which vscsi/vfc card is the load source but not
the specific drive.

So far I've only been able to determine the load source drive by using
the webby "IBM Navigator for I", Configuration and Service, Disk
Units. It's the one which says "Active - load source". Right
clicking on that allows me to select Properties. From here I see the
serial number. Using links displayed earlier in this thread it's easy
to tie this back to the storage link on the host.
I've not yet found a way to do this using the HMC.

Perhaps I am being sent a sign. Not wishing to ignore such an event
how do I see the tagged I/O on the next guest lpar just to ensure that
I don't do it on that one? Enhanced V9 HMC.

I think I got lucky. I swear I varied on the NWSD's when done
removing the storage links, but they are varied off. Varying them on now.

YES!!!! Now where do I find a brace of doves and an unblemished ram?
