Yes I've read how great iDate is. It's installed on our system now. I'll
use iDate in production.

Art,

One of the things I prefer about idate over timestamp_format was the built
in error handling. If you get a bad date idate will return a null. If you
get a bad date using timestamp_format - crash! Sure, you can wrap that up
in a procedure with the proper error handling but idate already has all
that.

Thank you. This worked great

select lbtime, Date(Timestamp_Format(Digits(lbtime ),
'HH24MISSMMDDYYYY'))
from ptilb00

Instead of iDate you can also use the Db2 scalar function
Timestamp_Format.
Timestamp_Format will convert a character string in almost any date
format into a timestamp.

Example:
Timestamp_Format(Digits(YourColumn), 'HH24MISSMMDDYYYY')

If you only need the date, just put a Date() function around:
Date(Timestamp_Format(Digits(YourColumn), 'HH24MISSMMDDYYYY'))

Thank you for doing this Rob. I'm having trouble getting Idate to work.
SQL tells me token iDate not valid. I'm reading the docs.

Yes = Know that given enough time and money you can do most anything.

But for the details
values idate(cast(12300108052019 - truncate(12300108052019 /
100000000, 0)
* 100000000 as decimal(8, 0)), '*MDCCYY');
