Also, assuming the problem is simply a record lock..

If all your web app is doing is reading the record...

You might be able to add the `USE CURRENTLY COMMITTED` clause to your
select statement to read the stale version of the record.

That's more of a band-aid. The right thing to to is to fix the RPG
program's so they aren't holding record locks for an extended period of
time.
