So long as the process waiting for the file is on the i that might be a
good approach.
A bit harder if it's another platform/system watching the directory for the
file so it can pick it up.

We used to use a process where we delivered a small file containing
metadata about the transfer after all the file(s) to be picked up had been
written to the IFS.
The metadata file had file sizes and file name(s) so that the polling
system(s) could see when they were ready and knew what to pick up.
The data files could be named anything but the metadata files had names
specific to the process(es) watching for them - there were 50.or 60 of them
from memory.
