Having an ODBC driver on the IFS would resolve some issues with a sister company not wanting to install drivers (unapproved software) on their own systems.
Are you sure about this? The driver in question is specific to PASE.
What I mean is, you use it to connect from PASE to the built-in Db2.
Which is great if you are writing software that lives in PASE (and
thus runs on the IBM i). This may be exactly what you are looking for,
or it might be completely inadequate. For example, if you need to
establish a connection from Excel on a user's PC to the Db2 on your
IBM i, I am pretty sure the ODBC driver for PASE cannot help you do
that. You would need to install the ODBC driver for Windows.
I went to install YUM, and found that SSHD is not started by default. I started it, but SSHD is apparently refusing to run and not leaving me any logs as to why it didn't start.
This is indeed bewildering to the uninitiated (like me) and severely
under-documented. I eventually discovered this:

It turns out that I needed to start the QUSRWRK subsystem. I can't
guarantee that you are experiencing the same problem I was, but this
is something quick and easy to check. Good luck!
