Steve Forstie published some code to do this task, export syslog entries to
a central syslog server on, say, a Linux box.

I've played some time with native syslog and my advice is: go with some
product. You'll have more granularity control, filter and support

Well depending on what you are talking about it may be quite easy.

Let's look at QHST to start. Search for generate-syslog at

https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/ssw_ibm_i_74/rzajq/rzajqudfhistoryloginfo.htm

I don't see syslog yet mentioned here:

But if this is a thing you're interested in you could submit a RFE.

Subject: Sending log files in syslog format

Hello everyone,
Has anyone come across the need to send files in the
'syslog' format from an IBMi system to another, say, x86 system.
Apparently, our platform has a little more challenges in sending this
type
of file that other platforms. I've seen some 3rd party software that
will
facilitate this.

Thanks, Larry
