The error means that the SSL certificate for this FTP server was not signed by someone you "trust".   This is meant to protect you from connecting to sites that aren't trusted.

To resolve this, you have two options:

1. Add the certificate of the organization that issued FTP.SERVERXXX.IT's certificate (this organization is called the "certificate authrority" or "ca" for short)  to your digital certificate manager as someone you trust.

or

2. Decide not to trust that CA. Instead, ask whomever runs FTP.SERVERXXX.IT to install a certificate that you do trust.

Or, the best option of all:

3. Don't use FTP over SSL, but instead use a much better and easier to manage solution like sftp (FTP-like interface to SSH)

I'm trying to connect to an FTP server with this command:
FTP RMTSYS (FTP.SERVERXXX.IT) PORT (990), but I get this error
Connection protection error, return code -23.
SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) function SSL_Handshake return code -23
-23 The certificate is not signed by a valid certification authority.
can someone give me some tips on how to resolve the issue?
