As you already know we live at opposite ends of the spectrum....

.Net is now just as valid as any other language on IBMi, even if you choose not to use it.

It really comes down to what you know and like.

The box is starting to feel like any old Linux Server, so why not Linux ? 😊

You do have to admit that Calvin is a genius for what he has accomplished, even if you don't like .Net.

Speaking only for myself...?? the value here is not for new development.? We have lots of options for that, and most (IMHO) are better options than Mono.

The value of this is that many of the applications that others wrote for the Mono/.NET environment can be run on IBM i.? That brings a whole slew of new options to the platform!

Richard, I know I'm lobbing one over the middle of the plate here, but can you give me a brief list of the top 5 benefits of .Net over all of the other options we have on the IBM i?? Obviously if you have Windows development talent in-house, it's a pretty easy call, but what about for shops that don't?? What about the .Net environment intrinsically benefits me as a developer?? Why would I (Joe Pluta) want to take the time to broaden my .Net skills?
