32765 is for *TYPE1 directories. If your manual is older than the existence of *TYPE2 (damn old) then that may be your issue.

See the following:

Converting from *TYPE1 to *TYPE2 is so old that the 7.3 manual still refers to i5/OS in that section

Subject: IFS limits

Does anyone know where I can find the maximum number of objects that can be in an IFS folder? All I have seen on the internet is 32,767 objects in the IBM i Maximum capacities manual. We have one IFS folder with over 261,000 PDFs in it. I am wondering what the limit is so I can be proactive and avoid a problem. Does anyone know where I can find that information?

Thank you,

Doug
