BTW, when I was testing what options really needed JDK 6 before upgrading to an OS which no longer supported it, I made use of
SAVLICPGM DEV(*SAVF)...
DLTLICPGM ...
Test
RSTLICPGM ...
Worked out pretty good.

And reinstall PTF's,
OR
Go to another system at the same OS level, which is current on PTF's, and do a SAVLICPGM of jdk 8 to *SAVF, transfer that over and do a RSTLICPGM from that.
Another thing to try:
CHKPRDOPT PRDID(5770JV1) OPTION(17)
It won't fix it but if you need some verification that it's hosed it may help.

Reinstall.

I just tried to launch Tomcat under Java 8 on a customer box.
The box HAS a /QOpenSys/QIBM/ProdData/JavaVM/jdk80/64bit/ directory.
But NOT a /QOpenSys/QIBM/ProdData/JavaVM/jdk80/64bit/bin/ directory.
Nor a /QOpenSys/QIBM/ProdData/JavaVM/jdk80/64bit/jre/bin directory.
In fact, it doesn't have much of anything under jdk80, certainly
nothing even close to what I see there on another box with a known-good Java 8.
Anybody have any idea what is going on? Why a box would think it has
Java 8, when it really doesn't? And what the customer needs to do about it?
