I think I finally have an answer to my UTF-8 data problem. ( the PHP
json_encode function sometimes returns an empty string when it is passed
data read from a UTF-8 encoded column in a DB2 table.).
One of the SQL functions involved in the process reads from the database
and returns a CHAR(2000) value. I did not have CCSID 1208 specified for
the return value of the SQL function.
