This works:
timestamp_format(right(digits(19000000 + lgdate), 8) concat ' ' concat digits(lgtime), 'YYYYMMDD HH24MISS') as message_timestamp,
I had forgotten about timestamp_format.
Then I kept stumbling over MI. I kept trying to use MM.

Subject: converting 7 digit date and numeric time into timestamp in sql
I can beat this into submission but I am wondering if there is a more elegant way of converting two fields like CYYMMDDD and HHMMSS into a timestamp in SQL
I am aware of the performance considerations of doing it this way versus comparing against just converting my input data to numerics instead, or using a conversion table. I just want to do it this way.
