This was created approximately 13 or 14 years ago and was wanted in a hurry
No one here on the AS/400 knew java - and it was therefore quicker to call the procedure on an external server

the original process is Java?
=> this will run on AS/400 (and all compatible systems coming later)!!! Why the hell not letting it run on the local machine???
Using a prestarted JVM (AppServer4RPG is your friend), it will run as fast as RPG and outperform Ruby, Python, Perl - and last not least it's the original stuff!!!
