I used a *SAVF rather than a tape device, but the above restored the file
/bvining/source/a.txt from *savf /qsys.lib/vining.lib/a.file to
/bvining2/target/b.txt (where both /bvining2 and /bvining2/target
directories previously existed.

backup tape. And suppose we want to put it someplace else in the file
system, from whence it was originally saved.

Is there a way to do that?

It's certainly an easy enough thing to do with QSYS objects, but what
about IFS?
